Brunchin’ | Original American Kitchen

I am back with another review, this time it is a popular Gainesville restuarant, Original American Kitchen, OAK.

I started off with a Blueberry lemonade cocktail, which didn’t wow me. The taste of liquor was faint and the flavors of the cocktail or lack there of was a disappointment.

For my breakfast, I ordered the stack of the day, which is the pancake special. According my waitress, OAK changes pancake specials each week. This week it was a banana split which comes prepared with chocolate syrup, strawberry syrup, bananas, whipped creme and a cherry on top. What I didn’t find out until my order arrived is the pancakes were sweet potato pancakes.

I also ordered a side of country sausage as well.

My brunch date ordered the Stuffed Bacon + Bourbon. Which is waffles with smoked bacon inside. I didn’t get a chance to try it personally, but she was not a fan of it. She said that the bacon was good when you first started eating it, but once you started to chew on it you can taste parts that were uncooked.

She also ordered a side of biscuits. Which were pretty good and I could tell would taste better with sausage gravy.

I remember when I first moved to Gainesville, I kept trying to figure out where this photo was and once I realized it was OAK it made me more excited to go. This is a great Instagram worthy shot.

My order of pancakes wasn’t my favorite and I love pancakes. The sausages, however, were really good and I can tell the biscuits would taste delicious with sausage gravy. While OAK wasn’t a favorite brunch spot of mine, I would suggest going to try it out for yourself to see how you like it.
